UACE kicks off: UNEB Cautions Schools Against Malpractice

Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) candidates have begun writing their examination papers today starting with History for the Arts students and Mathematics for the science candidates.
This year’s candidature stands at 110,569 registered candidates as compared to 97,889 last year indicating a percentage increase of 11.4% .
The females constitute 43% (47,227) while the males 57% (631,342). The upper prison Luzira has registered 34 candidates of whom 4 are females and the rest of the 30 are males.
Candidates with special needs are 243 in total with only 70 requiring support personnel.

While addressing the media, Jennifer Kalule Musumba the Principal Public Relations Officer UNEB cautioned candidates and members of the general public against involvement in any form of malpractices citing cases In the recently concluded Uganda Certifacte of Education (UCE) and Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE) where some scouts and invigilators connived with Head teachers to try and provide external assistance to candidates
Kalule also emphasized the fact that examination malpractice is a criminal offense under the UNEB Act 2021 and candidates should be aware that they are adults who can be tried and convicted in courts of law.
